Absa has launched the MasterCard MasterPass app for clients in South Africa, allowing them to make payments via a virtual wallet.
The smartphone application will be called Absa MasterPass, and can be used where MasterPass payments are accepted.
“The Absa MasterPass App gives people the power to make purchases using the digital wallet on their smartphones, without needing to carry their bank cards with them,” said Absa.
Standard Bank teamed up with MasterCard to become the first company in the Middle East and Africa region to offer MasterPass in July 2014.
The MasterPass app is available for Android and iOS devices.
