FNB is rolling out non-cash-dispensing ATMs to numerous rural areas in South Africa.
The roll-out of the new ATMs aims to improve access to banking in rural parts of South Africa.
“We are improving access to banking by introducing a new range of non-cash-dispensing ATMs which we believe will be incredibly helpful,” said FNB’s Lee-Anne van Zyl.
The ATMs can perform a variety of functions, including airtime and electricity purchases, statement viewing, traffic fines payment, and card cancellation.
Customers can also use the ATMs to make deposits into their accounts or pay a beneficiary. If the recipient banks with FNB, the deposited funds will immediately reflect in their bank account.
Cash withdrawals are conducted by issuing the customer with a withdrawal voucher, which is presented to a retailer to release the cash.
”We believe that the convenience of the new ATMs will alleviate the need for communities to visit major shopping centres to do their banking,” said van Zyl.
