FNB has launched a fully-fledged travel offering for its eBucks platform, called eBucks Travel.
FNB CEO Jacques Celliers unveiled eBucks Travel at an event in Sandton, Johannesburg on 16 May 2018.
The bank also launched numerous online tools which will improve customer experience, such as the ability to open an account by taking a selfie.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our 180-year history as we move beyond being a digital innovator to a broader contextual platform disruptor,” said Celliers.
“It is through this contextually-helpful platform that we can offer holistic financial solutions and become a trusted partner to the broader society.”
eBucks Travel includes an array of travel services, from booking a flight and hiring a vehicle, to travel lounge access.
Customers can use the eBucks Travel platform to compare flights across multiple airlines and pay using eBucks, their FNB card, or a combination of both.
Users can also create persistent profiles for friends and family they frequently travel with, and members can book discounted flights for family – even if they aren’t travelling with them.
FNB said customers on the eBucks Rewards Programme can get discounts of up to 40% on both local and international flights.
This is offered in combination with an improved online experience, letting users securely pay for flights and other travel expenses directly through the FNB app or FNB Pay, minimising the risk of phishing from third-party websites.
eBucks Travel is available on the eBucks website, and will soon launch in the FNB mobile app.
