FNB customers beware – Criminals are using a new method to steal your money

FNB is warning its customers about a scam where fraudsters pretending to be from FNB phone banking clients about a new transaction.
These fraudsters are very friendly and helpful and introduce themselves using names which are familiar to FNB clients.
“Their sole objective is to convince you that a transaction you know nothing about took place on your account,” FNB said.
The fraudsters then offer the victims help to reverse the transaction, which is when the scam is executed.
To avoid falling victim to this scam, FNB gave the advice below:
- Never approve a transaction using your app on instruction from a stranger.
- Never give away your username, password, card number, PIN or OTP to anyone, even if you think they are from FNB.
People who suspect that fraudsters are targeting them are advised to contact FNB on 087 575 9444.
