Standard Bank pay-day downtime strikes again

Standard Bank’s online and app-based banking platforms are experiencing technical issues around pay-day for at least the sixth time in a year.

The bank confirmed to MyBroadband that customers might not be able to log in to its mobile banking app or online banking on the morning of Friday, 25 March 2022.

“We are working on resolving this urgently,” the bank stated. “We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Below is the error message Standard Bank customers will see upon trying to log in to the mobile banking app.

The issue has been flagged on Standard Bank’s Status Page, a website that alerts customers of any problems with the bank’s services.

At the time of publication, this portal showed that all services under mobile banking and Internet banking were unavailable.

Card payments, cellular banking, ATMs, and branch services remain unaffected by the downtime.

Standard Bank recommended customers who wanted to transact on their mobile phone use cellphone banking as an alternative by dialling *120*2345#.

Downdetector showed a surge in reports of issues with Standard Bank services from around 06:24 on Friday morning.

MyBroadband has reported on several Standard Bank app or Internet banking outages in the past year.

Below are the dates on which these issues occurred, with those indicated in red being around pay-day:
