Nedbank online banking problems

Nedbank’s Internet banking and mobile banking apps have been hit by an hours-long outage starting in the mid-morning of Friday, 26 April 2024.

Outage tracking website Downdetector first showed a surge in reports of issues with Nedbank online services in South Africa from around 09:00.

The number of reports peaked at 11:00 before dropping sharply, but then picked up again from 11:30.

Numerous customers on X reported issues with accessing the Nedbank mobile banking app throughout the morning.

“Please sort out the app issue; it’s been so many hours now. Requested a proof of payment for a payment I made, it’s been 4 hours,” one user said.

Others posted a screenshot showing an error message on the Nedbank mobile banking app.

“Something went wrong on our side,” the message stated. “We’re working on the problem and will be back online as soon as possible. Please try again later.”

The bank’s support team responded to some users directly and confirmed it was experiencing “slow responses” on the app.

“The team is working on getting the matter resolved. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Nedbank’s support said.

At 11:46, it put up a post that acknowledged its digital banking channels were experiencing slow responses affecting banking transactions.

“We are working on resolving this as soon as possible,” it added.

Nedbank told MyBroadband the issues were intermittent, so although some services were available, they might be a bit slow.

“Our dedicated technical teams are working diligently to resolve these issues swiftly and effectively, prioritising the stability of the app,” the bank said.
