Bottoms up — Takealot reveals early Black Friday best sellers and biggest transaction

Takealot has shared its top-selling products and brands in the first few hours of its Blue Dot Sale.
South Africa’s biggest online retailer kicked off its version of Black Friday at 00:01 AM on Friday, with deals available on its mobile app, website, and Live Shopping on social media.
As of 06:00 AM on Friday, the biggest single basket value in the Blue Dot Sale was R135,000.
While the contents of this basket were not revealed, Takealot’s data showed that most shoppers had loaded their carts with essentials like drinks and general household goods.
Six hours after the sale started, Klipdrift Premium Brandy was the top-selling product.
In second place was Baby Soft 2-ply toilet paper rolls in a pack of 18, while the third highest seller was a 24-pack of Coca-Cola, which should go nicely with the top-selling product.
The best-selling tech product was the Xiaomi 4K Ultra Android media box, which placed fourth, while a 58-inch Hisense TV also featured in sixth place.
The rest of the top 10 comprised washing powder, prepared water, dog food, coffee, and a skincare product.

In the Hisense-sponsored Live Shopping stream on Instagram, seven of the ten products purchased by 06:00 AM were Hisense TVs.
Its biggest rival in home appliances and TVs — Samsung — featured in third place.
Popular value-focused sound and general gadget brand Volkano was the fifth best-selling brand, while smartphone and consumer technology manufacturer Xiaomi placed eighth.
Three of the remaining top 10 brands primarily offer skincare products.
