Amazon launches first Black Friday deals in South Africa

Amazon has launched its first-ever Black Friday deals on Amazon.co.za, its South African marketplace.

As part of its first Black Friday Sale in the country, the e-commerce giant will be offering discounts of up to 50% on various products from 1 November to 2 December 2024.

“As this is the first year we will be participating in Black Friday, we have worked hard to listen to and learn from our South African customers,” said Amazon’s managing director of its sub-Saharan Africa operations, Robert Koen.

“We’ve launched an Early Black Friday store for the month of November to make sure our customers get the opportunity to shop even better deals every day.”

Delivery will be a major focus for the e-commerce giant, with all items shipped by Amazon getting free standard delivery and extended delivery hours in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Deliveries will now be made until 20:00 over the Black Friday and festive shopping period.

“We’re offering free delivery with extended delivery hours, so customers can shop with confidence knowing that most items bought now through to 23 December will be delivered before Christmas,” Koen said.

Shoppers will also be able to make use of more than 3,000 pick-up points across the country.

The deals, which will be added throughout the month, can be accessed on the Amazon mobile app or web-based online store.

Some offers will only be available for 24 hours and while stocks last.

“With thousands of international and local products available on Amazon.co.za, we know customers will find a wide selection from everyday essentials to the latest must-have gift options,” Koen added.

Deals active at the time of publication include 29% off the JBL Go 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker at R636 or 20% off the Xbox Series S 1TB console for R7,999.

Several computer accessories are also on sale, such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB Portable SSD for R3,478 or the Logitech Optical Bluetooth POP Mouse for R299, which is 50% off.
