Telkom 100Mbps fibre to the home rollout areas

Telkom has launched a new web portal where South African broadband users can check if their area will get Telkom 100Mbps fibre to the home (FTTH) services. The company has also published an FTTH rollout map.

According to the Telkom FTTH website, most areas in South Africa are enabled for fixed broadband, and as a result “we have seen exponential growth in broadband usage”.

“Telkom has now embarked on a journey to bring Fibre-to-the-Home to your neighbourhood, allowing for broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps, in selected areas,” it added.

Telkom is encouraging users to visit the fibre to the home portal, and enter their details to determine if their neighbourhood is earmarked for FTTH.

The Telkom map provides the following details about broadband access in an area:

  • Go Fibre to the Home (FTTH). Your area is currently under consideration for inclusion by Telkom in our future FTTH (up to 100 Mbps) roll-out plan.
  • Go Super-Fast Broadband. Your area is up to 20/ 40 Mbps enabled, contact your service provider to place your order
  • Get Ready. Your area will be enabled for up to 20/40 Mbps within the next 3 – 6 months.
  • On Your Mark. Your area is currently under consideration for inclusion in our future up to 20/40 Mbps roll-out plan.
