The latest Net Index statistics reveal that MTN clients experience the highest average mobile broadband speeds.
The Net Index website uses data from millions of recent test results from Ookla’s Speedtest.net speed test platform.
According to the Net Index “Mobile Download Index”, South Africa’s average mobile download speed is 7.4Mbps. This is slightly lower than the global average of 8.7Mbps.
The Net Index statistics further show that MTN has the highest average mobile download speed at 9.24Mbps, followed by Vodacom, Telkom Mobile, and Cell C.
Vodacom had the highest average upload speed at 3.21Mbps, followed by MTN, Telkom Mobile, and Cell C.
