Fibre-to-the-home prices: Vodacom vs Telkom
Vodacom recently started offering its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services to residential customers in Equestria Estate in the east of Pretoria.
Vodacom’s FTTH prices range between R799 and R1,799 per month, depending on the speed and data allowance of the service.
The monthly price includes line rental for fixed voice services, the connection equipment, data, and access to Vodacom’s IP-TV.
Telkom FTTH
In December 2014 Telkom announced the availability of its 20Mbps, 40Mbps, and 100Mbps FTTH services in selected areas in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
Telkom is offering three fibre packages, which include a free Wi-Fi router, a 3GB mailbox, and unlimited Night Surfer data.
- 20Mbps line with 50GB data package for R999 per month
- 40Mbps line with 100GB package for R1,299 per month
- 100Mbps line with 200GB of data for R1,799 per month
Vodacom versus Telkom FTTH prices
It is understood that Vodacom has not finalised its official FTTH prices yet, and that its current rates are merely the pricing structure which it is testing as part of its fibre broadband trials.
This may explain why the current pricing and product offering is similar to Telkom’s FTTH services.
