Neighbourhoods with best broadband speeds in South Africa

Ookla’s latest Net Index statistics show that Sandton, Parow, and Midrand have the highest average download and upload speeds in South Africa.
The Net Index website, which uses data from millions of test results from Speedtest.net, shows that the average fixed broadband download speed in South Africa is 6.9Mbps.
While South Africa’s average download speed is increasing all the time, it is still well below the global average of 22.3Mbps.
South Africa’s average upload speed of 3.4Mbps is also far slower than the global average of 10.1Mbps.
Things are changing for the better, though. Numerous fibre-to-the-home projects have been launched in recent months, which will increase download and upload speeds in the country.

Ookla’s Net Index states that Sandton has the highest average download speed at 14.38Mbps, followed by Parow at 12.51Mbps, and Midrand at 12.10Mbps.
