Cheapest ever 100Mbps uncapped fibre-to-the-home in South Africa

Greencom, an Internet service provider that has partnered with Metrofibre Networx to offer fibre-to-the-home in communities around Gauteng, recently unveiled pricing for its services.

Using the infrastructure of Metrofibre Networx, a last-mile fibre network provider, Greencom offers FTTH services in Glenferness, Midrand, and is gauging interest in a number of other areas around Midrand and Johannesburg.

Greencom offers a number of FTTH packages, including competitively-priced uncapped, unshaped broadband services.

Its website lists prices for four uncapped, unshaped FTTH packages: Lite, Swift, Zoom, and Supersonic.

Supersonic, Greencom’s 100Mbps uncapped FTTH product, competes against the likes of Cybersmart and Cool Ideas which offer a similar service at R2,899 per month.

Not shown on its website is that Glenferness residents have reportedly been able to get a capped version of the Lite package for R399 per month.

Greencom states installation is subject to a site survey and an installation fee of R1,710.

Subscribers must sign a 3-month contract, after which the service is subject to a 30-day notice of cancellation.

Within the initial 3-month period, customers can upgrade at no charge, or downgrade subject to a new initial 3-month contract.

After this initial period, subscribers can upgrade or downgrade for free at any time.
