Telkom DSL users, data volumes show strong growth

Telkom has released its results for the year ended 31 March 2015, which show that the company now has over 1 million DSL subscribers on its network.
This is despite a decline in the number of fixed-line subscribers – which sat at 3,439,000, down from 3,618,000 12 months ago.
Telkom had 1,005,286 ADSL subscribers as of 31 March, up from 926,944 a year earlier.
In the year-end results presentation from Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko, it was stated that ports activated via MSAN (multi-service access nodes) grew by 103%.
This increased broadband penetration also includes 1,317 LTE sites and 6,100 Wi-Fi hotspots.
Data volume growth
Accompanying the increase in DSL users is a rise in data traffic volumes.
Traffic volume in terabytes stood at 32,804TB for the year ended 31 March 2015 – up from 24,850TB in 2014, and 10,080TB in 2012.
