Cheapest mobile data alternatives to ADSL

Mobile data

ADSL is a popular method for South Africans to connect to the Internet, as it is relatively cheap and widely available.

Unfortunately, Telkom does not cover the entire country with its ADSL infrastructure – and fibre and WISP footprints are even more limited.

This forces people to use a mobile data connection as their primary broadband channel, which is becoming more viable as mobile data prices decline.

Low-usage users may also choose a mobile data connection instead of ADSL, as the speeds obtained are normally higher than copper-based services.

The table below compares the mobile data prices of South Africa’s ISPs.

Note: Certain ISPs offer mobile data packages on a month-to-month basis, while others require a 12 or 24-month contract.
