Telkom unveils “Boltspeed Fibre”

Telkom Boltspeed fibre

Telkom has unveiled a partnership with Usain Bolt, who holds the 100m world record, to promote its fibre-to-the-home products.

In an advertisement titled “Fast just got faster”, the company informs readers they can now “experience Boltspeed with Telkom fibre”.

Telkom’s website does not contain any information about the “Boltspeed fibre” product, and it is assumed the company is promoting its 100Mbps service.

The advertisement advises readers to visit http://www.telkom.co.za/coverage/ to see if they are able to get Boltspeed fibre.

The image below shows the Telkom Boltspeed advertisement which appeared in the City Press on 22 November.

Bolt also used in Virgin broadband advertisements

This is not the first time Bolt has been used to promote broadband services. Virgin Media used Bolt in multiple advertisements for its “superfast broadband” in the United Kingdom.

Several of these advertisements were banned by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority for unsubstantiated reasons.

Here are two of the Virgin Media advertisements featuring Bolt.
