MWEB in big fibre-to-the-home push

MWEB has announced plans to focus its resources on fixed-line broadband, including fibre-to-the-home and ADSL, along with a revamp of its website.

“This will allow the business to take full advantage of the rapid infrastructure roll-out of FTTH in South Africa, as well as driving the ongoing growth of its ADSL base,” said MWEB.

According to the ISP, this shift in focus means that it will close its five retail stores at the end of March 2016.

At the same time, it will launch a new look for its home page, which MWEB said will enable quicker and easier online sign-up and let customers shop when it suits them.

Affected staff will be given the opportunity to apply to join the expanded field sales teams in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
