MyBroadband launches 1Gbps uncapped mobile broadband for R99 per month [April Fools]

MyBroadband has launched South Africa’s first affordable high-speed uncapped mobile broadband service – Warp Speed Mobile Internet.

The service offers an uncapped, unthrottled mobile Internet connection with speeds of up to 1Gbps for R99 per month.

The service is provided through Li-Fi technology. Li-Fi is similar to Wi-Fi, but uses the visible light spectrum to transfer data.

Li-Fi has a massive advantage over traditional mobile technologies like 3G and LTE, because it does not use expensive licensed spectrum to transmit radio frequency (RF) signals.

Instead, it uses light or infrared and near-ultraviolet spectrum – which carries much more information. It provides an excellent solution to the limitations of RF-bandwidth.

There are already many commercial Li-Fi-enabled smartphones and tablets available, and a Li-Fi adapter is available for all iPhones and Android devices.

MyBroadband’s 1Gbps Warp Speed Mobile Internet service offers the fastest mobile broadband speeds in South Africa at the best price.

The service offers uncapped data, which means users don’t have to worry about out-of-bundle rates.

You can watch YouTube, stream Netflix, download files, and surf the web simultaneously at blisteringly-fast speeds.

MyBroadband’s Li-Fi-based network is currently available in Gauteng and the Western Cape, with most shopping centres and office blocks in the major metros currently installing the technology.

MyBroadband is also in discussions with local municipalities to replace their current street lights with Li-Fi-ready equipment.

Included in the R99 monthly subscription is one Li-Fi adapter for an iOS or Android device, one USB Li-Fi receiver for a PC or laptop, and two Li-Fi lamps for your home or office to ensure excellent connectivity.
