South Africa’s mobile broadband speed compared to other African countries

Akamai has released its Q1 2016 State of the Internet report, which shows that South Africa has the second-best average mobile broadband speed in Africa.

Akamai’s State of the Internet report is based on data gathered from the company’s Intelligent Platform, which provides insight into global connectivity and Internet metrics.

According to the report, Kenya has the highest average mobile connection speed at 5.9Mbps, followed by South Africa on 4.8Mbps, and Angola on 4.7Mbps.

When it comes to the average peak mobile connection speeds – representing the average of the maximum measured connection speeds – Angola topped the list with 86.8Mbps.
