Double Data Deal from iBurst

iBurst recently launched its simplified website which now includes a general news section, new menu system and quicker navigation time.

The company has also launched their “Double Data Deal,” offering new iBurst Wireless subscribers double their usual data allowance for the first six months.

“Sign up for any Wireless 24- or 36-month contract from R208 pm, between November 2010 and January 2011, and you’ll get double your data free for the first 6 months, absolutely free,” the Burst website stats.

Broadband Competition

iBurst has been facing stiff competition in the wireless broadband market from both Neotel – who simplified their offerings in 2010 – and more recently Cell C, which launched the most affordable broadband offerings ever in South Africa.

Many ISPs are also pushing the limits in the local ADSL ISP market. Afrihost for example currently offers 50% off all new referred clients’ bills as well as crediting the account of the person who made the referral with the ‘other’ 50%.

iBurst Wireless’ speed of 1 Mbps is also not particularly competitive in the local broadband market, especially when compared to Cell C’s 21 Mbps and even Neotel’s 3.1 Mbps.

iBurst’s Double Data Deal may serve to get some consumers excited, especially in areas where consumers cannot get ADSL or Cell C HSPA+ services.
