The LTE packages were launched by Cell C in partnership with Internet Solutions – with local ISPs to offer them to consumers.
“The partnership works similarly to Rain – however, it is a Cell C offer through Internet Solutions’ billing and distribution platform. IS resellers then sell the packages to their customers,” said IS.
The company added that customers can expect fast download speeds in major metropolitan areas wherever there is LTE coverage.
“Cell C has an extensive network footprint in South Africa that includes 2,900 LTE base stations in the major metropolitan areas of Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.”
Axxess has now listed the Cell C fixed-LTE packages on offer, with prices of “less than R7 per GB”.
The ISP said users can enjoy data speeds of up to 69Mbps download and 25Mbps upload, and potential customers are advised to consult Axxess’s LTE coverage map on its website.
Users have a choice of three package options, with various data allocations:
- SIM Only – No once-off cost.
- SIM + Huawei B315 Router – Free on promotion. Normal price R1,799.
- SIM + Huawei B618 Router – R999 once-off, on promotion. Normal price R2,499.
The data packages on offer are as follows:
- 50GB – R349 pm
- 100GB – R530 pm
- 200GB – R845 pm
Axxess said the packages are available on a month-to-month basis, but terms and conditions do apply if a package with an LTE router is taken out. If the package is cancelled before a certain period, an amount will have to be paid in by the customer.
Top-ups are also available for the service, and start at R13 per GB. Top-ups expire 30 days after their purchase.
