Gateway and Teraco partner
Gateway Communications today announced that it has partnered with Teraco in a move which the company says is expanding “its delivery of restored and non-restored IP (Internet Protocol) transit solutions to licensed African operators”.
This development supports Gateway Communications’ on-going terrestrial network expansion plan for 2011.
“Gateway Communications continues to use its hybrid approach to connectivity, incorporating satellite, sub-sea and terrestrial communications technologies ensuring that carriers and customers receive the most reliable, high quality, fully flexible and scalable Internet capacity,” the company said.
“Gateway Communications offers local IP peering in most African countries, with a long-term strategy to continue to route data traffic more efficiently within Africa,” said Phil Braden, Chief Operations Officer, Gateway Communications.
“We can now offer peering in Southern Africa joining Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.”
Last month Gateway engaged with a number of South African ISPs requiring IP transit capacity, providing services from its Teraco Johannesburg and Cape Town PoPs (Points of Presence).
