Vodacom’s new Broadband Standard pricing kicked in on 1 August, lowering the in-bundle price of contract customers up to 43% and adding Night Owl bandwidth to all data contracts.
Existing Broadband Standard subscribers will be migrated automatically to similar packages that offer better value for money.
Vodacom’s prepaid and top-up subscribers were however left out of the latest price reductions, a decision which was widely criticized online.
“Doesn’t apply to Top-Up or Prepaid… pathetic Vodacom. Since these guys gone red it’s just been downhill,” said one Vodacom subscriber on the MyBroadband forums. “Why exclude prepaid? Vodacom come ON,” said another.
Good news is that price reductions are also coming to prepaid and top-up customers. Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys recently said on Twitter that “reductions also coming to prepaid and top-up very soon.”
Vodacom’s communications department was contacted for more details about Uys’ statement, but they did not provide information by the time of publication.
