8ta larger prepaid data packages arrive
8ta has delighted consumers with their mobile broadband data promotions which offer consumers 10GB of data on contract for R199 per month and 2GB of prepaid data at R149.
These promotional prices from 8ta are well below the normal cellular rates where R150 to R200 per GB has become the norm.
Unbeknownst to many people, 8ta has also launched two new prepaid data bundles which complement the company’s current 100MB (R50), 250MB (R100), 500MB (R150) and 1GB (R250) packages.
The two new data bundles are a 2GB bundle priced at R380 and a 5GB bundle priced at R800.
These new prepaid bundles from 8ta were launched on Thursday last week (1 September 2011) as part of the Telkom Business Mobile launch, but unlike many of the Telkom Business Mobile products there, the new pre-paid bundles are available to consumers as well.
The new prepaid bundles are available to prepaid, contract and hybrid subscribers.
These prices are significantly higher than 8ta’s 10GB for R199 and 2GB for R149 promotions, raising the question why their standard rates are so much higher than their promotional rates.
8ta explained that the once-off Internet 2GB bundle priced at R380 was launched as their standard 2GB pre-paid offer and is available to all subscribers on both the 8ta network and MTN roaming.
“The GO3GIGS offer is a promotional offer which is only available on 8ta’s network and is available for a limited period of time which explains the price difference,” 8ta said.
