MTN slashes mobile broadband prices

MTN small

MTN has slashed the price of its 1GB data packages from the usual R289.00 per month, to R89 per month. This price cut forms part of the company’s latest ‘Yellow Deals’ promotions.

MTN is offering new customers an MTN F@stlink E352 modem and 1GB of monthly data on a 24 month contract for R89 per month. The company is also offering the same modem with 500MB of data for R49 per month (down from the usual R189 per month).

For those looking for a bit more data and a router, rather than a USB modem, MTN is offering an MTN Sh@relink B683 router with 2GB of data at R159 per month, as part of an upgrade offer.

MTN is also offering consumers various modems and routers on its 12 month ‘Uncapped Lite Internet Package’, with prices ranging between R329 and R389 per month.

These data promotions from MTN come amidst a fierce price war in the mobile broadband market. Vodacom, 8ta and Cell C are all running aggressively priced mobile data promotions to warm up to consumers.
