Top mobile broadband services in SA
MyBroadband conducted its latest broadband survey recently (August 2012), revealing that Cell C’s mobile broadband service was rated as the best in South Africa.
The survey asked broadband users to rate various components of their mobile broadband service, including reliability, download speed, upload speed, latency, value for money, and overall satisfaction.
Cell C’s mobile broadband offering was rated as the top mobile service in South Africa, closely followed by 8ta’s mobile broadband products.
MTN and Vodacom received far lower ratings than Cell C and 8ta, despite their superior network coverage and larger subscriber numbers. The reason for this may partly be due to Cell C’s aggressive mobile broadband prices and promotions.
Vodacom’s poor performance is particularly curious considering that the company’s network performance is consistently rated as the best in the country. However, the survey revealed that Vodacom has lost favour with consumers which should be of concern to the company.
