Virgin Mobile joins data price war
Virgin Mobile has quietly joined the mobile data price war with 500MB, 2.5GB and 3GB contract packages priced at R49, R149 and R150 per month respectively. These promotion were unveiled in the company’s latest deal booklet where prices are valid from 8 November 2012 to 30 January 2013.
The Virgin Mobile’s 2.5GB 24 month contract data packages include a starter pack and a Huawei USB dongle:
- 2.5GB of data, starter pack and Huawei E1820 dongle for R149 per month on a Top Up 149 package
- 2.5GB of data, starter pack and Huawei E1820 dongle for R150 per month on a Data Classic 150 package
- 500MB of data on a Data Classic 49 package for R49 per month
- 3GB of data on a Top Up 149 package for R149 per month
- 3GB of data on a Data Classic 150 package for R150 per month
Virgin Mobile is also offering subscribers Samsung Galaxy Tab P7300 with 2GB of monthly data for R300 per month on a 24 month contract.
Virgin Mobile’s 2.5GB data packages directly competes against MTN’s 2GB for R169 deal and Vodacom’s 2GB for R149 data promotion.
However, Cell C’s R119 for 2GB data contract remain the most affordable 2GB data promotion in South Africa from the major mobile operators.
