Vodacom pay-once 12GB and 24GB promotion stopped
Vodacom has ended its pay-once data promotion, which means that pre-paid data users will have to pay R279 for a 1GB package and R369 for a 2GB package in future.
Vodacom said that all the “Mofaya data contract promotions” have been extended to 06 April 2013. However, the pre-paid pay-once data promotion was stopped on 06 February 2013.
Vodacom first launched its “pay-once data bundles” promotion in August 2012, offering consumers 1GB of data every 30 days for a year at R1,199 and 2GB of data every 30 days for a year at R1,999.
In October Vodacom reduced the price of these bundles to R999 for 1GB of data every 30 days for a year, and R1,499 for 2GB of data every 30 days for a year.
“With our new Pre-paid Pay Once data bundles, you can forget the hassle of having to buy data bundles every month. You get data allocated to you automatically every 30 days for a year after paying upfront,” Vodacom said at the time.
The fact that the operator stopped this promotion means that Vodacom subscribers one again have the “hassle of having to buy data bundles every month”, and pay 200% more than the promotional rates.
Vodacom was asked why it ended the promotion, but the company did not respond by the time of publication.
Vodacom Update
Vodacom said that they are currently reviewing their prepaid data offers, and customers can expect great value in the near future.
