Free 20GB mobile data per month from FNB

First National Bank (FNB) has launched a set of rebates that new customers can choose between if they buy a smartphone, tablet, or notebook PC from the bank when they switch.
In a press statement issued today, FNB unveiled three bundles for new clients.
One bundle offers the benefits of a cellphone contract for free; another gives 20GB of free 3G data; and the last one offers a free uncapped ADSL account.
FNB summarised the deals in a table, which is reproduced below:
Option 1 ‘Voice Rebate’ | 200 Minutes, 200 SMS, 200 MB of 3G data per month x 12 months |
Option 2 ‘Data Rebate’ | 20GB of 3G data per month x 12 months |
Option 3 ‘Uncapped ADSL Rebate’ | Uncapped ADSL for 6 months (to the maximum value of R399 p.m.) Thereafter ADSL data is available at a discounted rate based on the client’s eBucks reward tier. |
FNB said in its press release that the offer is available until 30 September 2013.
Responding to questions about the new promotion, FNB explained that the “Voice rebate” is a free Cell C Straight Up 200 contract for 12 months, while the “Data rebate” is actually the 5GB peak data + 15GB off-peak data offering from Cell C.
The table below summarises the new uncapped ADSL accounts FNB launched yesterday, which shows the rates that will apply after the 6 months of the ADSL rebate have passed.
Line Speed | Maximum Discount | Normal Price |
---|---|---|
384Kbps | Free | R99 per month |
1Mbps | Free | R199 per month |
2Mbps | Free | R299 per month |
4Mbps | Free | R399 per month |
10Mbps | R500 per month | R899 per month |
FNB said in its press release that existing customers will receive voice and data benefits from their eBucks rewards level.
For example, FNB said that Personal Cheque Account holders get access to uncapped ADSL data, and existing clients who take up a smart device can get access to 3G data (up to 500MB). Existing clients can also receive a rebate on 200 minutes talk-time.
Rebates may change month to month depending on movement between eBucks reward tiers/levels, FNB said.
