MyBroadband revamped its South African internet connection testing platform in August, offering more speed test server locations and offering a neutral testing environment (MyBroadband speed test here).
NAPAfrica further provides all network operators with free 1Gbps connections to the MyBroadband speed test platform, which means that they can optimise their performance without incurring any costs.
MyBroadband speed test results
Over the last month broadband users across South Africa performed 88,628 tests, with an average download speed of 9.6Mbps and an average upload speed of 2.3Mbps.
It should be noted that these statistics include test results from business connections, test networks and even core networks.
For the broadband results listed below, filtering is performed to eliminate results which do not come from broadband services.

The highest broadband speed per broadband connection (hence peak speed) since the speed test server was moved to the Teraco/NAPAfrica environment are listed in the table below.
