The latest MyBroadband speed test results show that Telkom Mobile and MTN’s LTE networks provide the highest peak speeds in South Africa.
MyBroadband revamped its South African internet connection testing platform in August 2013, offering more speed test server locations and offering a neutral testing environment at Teraco and NAPAfrica.
NAPAfrica provides all network operators present at its peering points with free 1Gbps connections to the MyBroadband speed test platform.
MyBroadband’s speed test platform has become the preferred speed testing server for many broadband users in South Africa, with nearly 100,000 tests performed over the last month.
The results over the last month show an average download speed of 8.7Mbps and an average upload speed of 1.97Mbps.
When looking at the 10 fastest broadband speed tests performed over the last 30 days, Telkom Mobile and MTN’s LTE connections reign supreme.
The following table provides the top 10 speed tests (hence peak speeds) over the last month – taken on 15 December 2013.
