What would you pay for a SuperSport-only DStv package?

MyBroadband recently conducted a survey about the entertainment preferences of South Africans, which found that 57% of respondents were interested in a stand-alone SuperSport package from DStv.
On average, the group surveyed said it was willing to pay R187.13 per month for a subscription to only sports channels.
The online survey was completed by 2,889 IT professionals and tech-savvy individuals.
Results from the survey showed that 65% of this group have a DStv subscription of some kind. Of those respondents, 68% subscribe to DStv Premium.
Of those who indicated that they either have a DStv subscription or are interested in a stand-alone SuperSport subscription, most said they were interested in rugby, cricket, or both.
Respondents were also asked whether they were interested in a package with only premium entertainment channels, excluding sport.
36% said they were interested in such a service, and those interested said they were willing to pay R280.75 per month on average for DStv Premium without sport.

Stand-alone and custom packages would be more expensive: MultiChoice
Referencing the survey results, MultiChoice said that genre-specific packages or putting together your own package would not result in a cost saving.
This is because a large chunk of MultiChoice’s costs come from the acquisition of the rights to broadcast live sports games and premium entertainment content.
To give subscribers the benefit of economies of scale, DStv offers a number of fixed packages which MultiChoice said lets it spread the cost of acquiring content across many customers on many packages.
This is the standard business model internationally for pay TV, said MultiChoice.
“Offering a genre-specific package (for example sport) will actually end up costing the customer more than the current subscription for the Premium package.”
