DStv Premium: what people are willing to pay
DStv subscribers in South Africa have become accustomed to an annual price increase in the monthly subscription fees of most of the packages available on the pay TV service.
While the increases are predictable, with the price of DStv Premium tracking inflation, it attracts a fresh outcry every year from those who feel the service is too expensive.
This raises the question: What do South Africans think is a fair price for DStv Premium?
MyBroadband conducted a survey asking IT professionals and tech-savvy individuals about their video entertainment habits, and put this question to respondents.
2,889 people completed the survey, with 65% of respondents saying they subscribed to a DStv service. Of these, 68% said they subscribe to DStv Premium.
All respondents were asked what they think a fair price for DStv Premium would be, and the average amount given was R379.43.
