MultiChoice has launched an advertising campaign highlighting the pitfalls of illegal online downloads and pirated DVDs.
Piracy is a big problem in South Africa. Corne Guldenpfennig, the former head of Safact, said in 2014 that South Africa was ranked fourteenth globally for illegal downloads.
She added that South Africans pirate around 1 million movies and TV series through online downloads every month.
Apart from the fact that it is illegal, MultiChoice points out that pirated content is often of inferior quality and can ruin your viewing experience.
MultiChoice’s advertising campaign promotes its DStv Box Office service as an alternative to illegal movie downloads and pirated DVDs.
Here are two of the company’s anti-piracy commercials.
