SuperSport streaming – the best way to watch sport at work
SuperSport’s live streaming service is a great way to watch live sport on your PC, tablet, or smartphone, and has become an essential part of sports watching for many South Africans, said the channel group.
SuperSport live streaming is provided via the DStv Now website and app, as well as on SuperSport.com and the SuperSport app.
The company said many viewers use SuperSport’s live streams at work, and during high-interest tournaments. “SuperSport live streams peak at major sports events, and usage tends to be higher during office hours,” it said.
To improve the service further, SupersSport has introduced streaming of additional live feeds from major sports events.
The additional streams were used for the Australian Open tennis tournament – where 6 live court feeds were simultaneously streamed – and the recent US Masters – where 4 live streaming feeds were provided.
“This offering of unique feeds of these events was in addition to the simulcast streaming of our SuperSport broadcast channels.”
SuperSport adaptive streaming
One of the best features of SuperSport’s live streaming is its adaptive bit rates, it said, where the quality of the video is adjusted automatically by the player based on the end-user’s connection speed.
This means the video quality will be higher on faster connections, which can support higher bit rates.
SuperSport currently offers the following streaming bit rates:
- 370k
- 550k
- 800k
- 1200k
“We regularly review bit rates based on local network conditions and the end-user’s experience,” said SuperSport.
