Fallout from Netflix VPN blockade not hurting its bottom line

Netflix’s decision to block services that circumvent regional restrictions on content has not hurt its bottom line.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said during the company’s Q1 earnings call that “a very small but quite vocal minority” were affected by the move.

“So it’s really inconsequential to us, as you could see in the Q1 results,” said Hastings.

CFO David Wells said Netflix continued to enjoy “very strong” growth in the United States.

“At the same time we had a very robust Netflix global launch,” suggesting that subscribers are not abandoning the platform following the crackdown.
