The DA was picketing outside the offices of ICASA on 24 June, during a hearing by the authority into a complaint against the SABC brought to it by three organisations.
The Media Monitoring Project Benefit Trust, Support Public Broadcasting Coalition, and the Freedom of Expression Institute all lodged complaints against the broadcaster – complaining about the SABC’s censorship of its news coverage of the Tshwane riots earlier this week.
The organisations argued that the SABC was not abiding by the Broadcasting Act, or the Code of Conduct for Broadcasting Service Licensees.
Photos and video of the DA’s picket is embedded below. Right2Know protesters also joined the DA.
