SABC reinstates 7 journalists
The SABC has reinstated seven dismissed journalists, according to a report by News24.
“The South African Broadcasting Corporation management has instructed its legal team not to proceed with further legal action and the SABC will reinstate the seven dismissed news employees,” said the SABC.
This comes after the broadcaster refused to allow four journalists entry into work at its Johannesburg offices, despite a Labour Court ruling that their dismissals were unlawful.
The SABC originally said it would appeal the Labour Court order that it reinstate the four journalists, and would not allow them back into its offices.
The SABC fired eight journalists who expressed concerns about the direction the public broadcaster was heading in earlier in July.
