Naspers launched ShowMax in South Africa one year ago today, at a subscription fee of R99 per month.
At launch, the service had over 1,150 titles (750+ series, 400+ movies), and was available on Mac and Windows PCs, Android and iOS smartphones, and certain Samsung and LG smart TVs.
Since then, it has made changes to its content library, added the ability to download videos for offline viewing and set usage caps, added the ability to subscribe with cash vouchers, and added multiple user profiles.
ShowMax has also added support for AirPlay, Apple TV, Chromecast, the DStv Explora decoder, and more smart TVs, and it changed its logo.
To commemorate the anniversary, ShowMax has detailed how and when its customers use the service.
