ShowMax has added support for many devices in 2016, including Apple TV 4th Gen, Chromecast, Explora, and AirPlay – and this trend is set to continue.

The company is currently rolling out a revised Android app that supports Android TV and the ShowMax PlayStation 4 app is in testing.

ShowMax is also aggressively growing its footprint, which saw the company launch a new tier of ShowMax in Kenya – complete with M-PESA integration and data-saving features.

“In South Africa, we’ve put partnerships in place with the likes of FNB, Standard Bank, ABSA, MWEB, Game, Vox, Telkom, and Vodacom,” said ShowMax’s African head Chris Savides.

“We’ve been busy getting prepaid vouchers into stores across SA and have been building out our CDN,” he said.

The company’s aim of offering the biggest, and highest-quality, SVOD catalogue on the continent is also pushing it to constantly add new shows and movies.

In 2017, ShowMax is aiming to “be on more devices, in more countries, to keep the flow of new content coming, and to add new functionality”.

ShowMax users will also see a “new look” user interface soon.

“Our challenge remains solving the data issue for customers and we’ve got some pretty cool ideas in the works on this,” said Savides.
