Roku devices have been affected by an outage which lasted several hours, Variety reported.

Owners of streaming devices and TVs based on the platform were not able to load channels such as Netflix or YouTube, and reported that they saw an FBI anti-piracy takedown notice on their displays.

The notice stated that the channels were removed due to repeated claims of copyright infringement.

According to Roku, only a small number of users were affected, but according to reports, several users had taken to social media to ask why they were seeing the FBI notice.

Users also reported that FoxSportsGo, FandangoNow, Hotstar, YuppTV, and Gaia were affected by the outage.

By 06:00 South Africa time, Roku posted an update to confirm that the issue had been resolved, which was called a “technical glitch”.
