TopTV gets two new channels

TopTV

TopTV announced today (16 March 2012) that it has signed up two new third-party channels that will both start broadcasting on its pay-TV platform before the end of this month (March 2012).

NHK World TV

The first channel is 24-hour international news, information and lifestyle channel, NHK World TV.

“Coming out of Tokyo in Japan, the English channel features Newsline, a half-hour live news broadcast at the top of every hour from its 54 broadcast stations across Japan and 31 bureaus situated in major cities across the world, and captured on high definition cameras,” TopTV said.

After the news bulletin, the remainder of each hour comprises a variety of Asian lifestyle programmes, documentaries and special reports focusing on culture, art and music, anime (a Japanese style of animated cartoons), Asian business news and trends, fashion, cooking, science, social issues, nature, entertainment and sport.

NHK World TV will launch on TopTV Channel 406 this weekend.

African Movie Channel

The second new channel announced for TopTV is the African Movie Channel (AMC). TopTV said that AMC is the replacement channel for Hi Nolly, and boasts an extensive library of African movie titles and soaps, series and dramas.

According to TopTV, AMC is “undisputed as the largest African content aggregator in the industry, and a global player to be reckoned with.”

The launch date for AMC on Channel 120 on TopTV is still to be confirmed, but TopTV said it would definitely be available before the end of March.
