DStv Premium upgrade deal launched

MultiChoice’s DStv is running its Get More Upsize promotion, which will see customers who sign up for, upgrade, or reactivate their DStv Compact or Compact Plus package upgraded to DStv Premium in November 2024.

It says the special will open for qualifying customers on 1 November and close on 1 December 2024. During this period, customers can access live DStv Premium channels.

The promotion does not include the catch-up content for the additional channels.

“If you reconnect, upgrade or sign up your DStv Compact Plus and DStv Compact decoder subscription between 1 and 30 November, you’ll be upgraded to DStv Premium,” says DStv.

This is good timing for rugby fans on one of the lower-tier DStv plans, as they can watch the upcoming Springbok matches live against England, Scotland, and Wales.

“Catch the Proteas in action during the India tour of South Africa,” DStv added.

Qualifying customers can also access popular Premium programming, such as the Davis Cup Finals Knock-Out Stage and the Nitto ATP World Tour Finals, for tennis fans, and shows like Serengeti II on BBC Earth and Lost Monster Files on Discovery Channel.

Drama fans can look forward to the debut of Dune: Prophecy and the final season of Yellowstone on M-Net.

However, there are several caveats, such as the deal not applying to the DStv Compact and Compact Plus streaming-only packages and being unable to access the extra DStv Premium channels through the streaming service.

Customers will also forfeit their access to DStv Premium content if they disconnect, cancel, or downgrade their package to DStv Family, Access, or EasyView during the promotional period.

The deal excludes all DStv Premium benefits, such as Showmax discounts.

It is unclear whether this is one of DStv’s Black Friday deals, as the announcement does not mention the sales event.

The Multichoice-owned broadcaster has been quiet about its Black Friday plans this year. In the past, it has offered discounts on DStv Internet packages, decoders, and DStv packages, as well as various giveaways.

In 2023, the broadcaster’s Black Friday campaign was dubbed “All Black Friday”, and it ran a promotion giving away a free DStv premium subscription until the next Rugby World Cup in Australia in 2027.

The giveaway winner also received a 65-inch Smart TV, TV stand, sound bar, an Explora Ultra Decoder with installation, DStv Insurance, DStv Internet, and a complete DStv Premium bundle including Showmax, Extra Stream, Namola, and a couch of the winner’s choice.
