DStv channel changes in 2025

DStv customers have a slew of new content to look forward to in 2026, after a year that saw the broadcaster make 16 changes to its channel offerings.

These include two general channel additions that apply to all DStv packages except EasyView. These are Bravo Africa and a dedicated SuperSport channel for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In August 2025, NBCUniversal announced that it was scrapping the E! channel in Africa and replacing it with Bravo Africa. The channel is available on DStv channel 124.

According to Hendrik McDermott, managing director for Hayu, EMEA Networks, and International direct-to-consumer at NBCUniversal, Bravo Africa will build on the studio’s success.

“We are thrilled to be launching Bravo Africa, with our partners DStv, and to build on the success of the NBCUniversal channel portfolio in Africa,” he said.

Then, in early November 2025, Canal+ Africa CEO David Mignot announced that DStv would launch SuperSport channels dedicated to the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 tournament in Morocco.

He said Canal+ Africa had helped secure the CAF broadcast rights. The matches will be available from 21 December 2025, with broadcasts offering various language options.

The two dedicated SuperSport channels for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 tournament are available on DStv channels 202 and 222.

“Our newly-forged merger with MultiChoice has already unlocked opportunities and benefits for our customers,” said Mignot.

“This year’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is a great demonstration of the power and potential of this common ambition: bringing together our expertise to offer unprecedented coverage.”

These announcements followed similar announcements for DStv Compact, DStv Family, DStv Access, and DStv EasyView earlier in the year.

In March 2025, MultiChoice announced that DStv Compact customers would get access to five new channels from 1 April 2025, as well as an extra concurrent stream.

The channels added to DStv Compact include SuperSport Action on channel 210, Africa Magic Showcase on channel 151, CBS Justice on channel 170, Curiosity Channel on channel 185, and History Channel on channel 186.

Big changes for lower-tier packages

DStv’s lower-tier packages, DStv Family, DStv Access, and DStv EasyView, also saw a slew of channel additions in 2025.

In August, MultiChoice announced a decision to permanently add three new channels to the DStv Family package, following the addition of three channels in April 2025.

In April, DStv Family customers got access to Comedy Central on channel 122, HGTV on channel 177, and the Disney Channel on 303.

A few months later, MultiChoice added three family and kids channels: Dreamworks on channel 304, Nickelodeon on channel 305, and Nick Jr on channel 307.

“DStv Family will now include all 14 DStv kids’ channels on live TV, plus even more to download or stream on DStv Stream,” MultiChoice said.

“Parents can count on trusted, quality programming, while kids enjoy endless adventures and stories to spark their imagination.”

Over the course of 2025, DStv Access customers have seen two new channels added, while EasyView subscribers have gotten access to one additional channel. These changes took effect on 1 April.

“DStv Access adds Zee World for Bollywood drama and romance, and Nicktoons with SpongeBob SquarePants, while DStv EasyView welcomes SuperSport Schools, showcasing South Africa’s rising sports stars,” MultiChoice said in March.
