DStv Stream customers report problems
Several DStv Stream subscribers reported problems with their service on Thursday evening, saying they were unable to watch live channels.
One subscriber in South Africa who contacted MyBroadband said they received a CDNAT 500 error when attempting to launch a channel.
When retrying, a channel sometimes starts playing, but then disconnects. Other times they don’t work at all, then connect, only to throw an error later.
“Anyone else’s DStv stream doing this or unyeka nje mna?” one customer asked on Twitter, posting a picture showing an error message on their TV.
Their error message stated: “Whoops! Looks like something went wrong. Please try again later.” Another customer received an error message in their browser stating that a problem occurred on DStv’s server.
The issues did not seem limited to South Africa, as some customers in Nigeria also reported problems. Two subscribers posted a variant of “DStv Stream is the worst”. One used the Big Brother Naija hashtag.
Another subscriber posted about a problem which may not be related to the outage: “Anybody else unable to use the DStv Stream app the last few weeks after moving from Showmax?”
Outage tracker Downdetector showed that people began reporting problems with their DStv service from around 18:00 on Thursday.
MyBroadband contacted MultiChoice for comment, and this article will be updated with its feedback, if received.
