StarSat, formerly TopTV, going HD

On Digital Media (ODM) announced on Thursday, 31 October 2013 that it was relaunching its satellite pay TV offering as “StarSat”.
In addition to a new name, ODM said it will also be launching a new decoder capable of receiving high definition (HD) broadcasts.
When asked whether this means that the newly launched StarSat has HD channels, ODM interim CEO Eddie Mbalo said that they do not have HD channels as yet.
He said that they are forward-looking so they are providing an HD-capable box.
Adding to Mbalo’s statement, StarTimes president Pang Xinxing said that they do plan to gradually launch HD channels “very soon”.
“For example, we have an HD feed of Discovery, NBA channel, and the Bollywood movie channel,” Xinxing said.
