Vodacom recently released its trading update for the quarter ended 31 December 2017, updating its mobile subscriber numbers.
As listed companies, it is a requirement for Vodacom, MTN, and Telkom to release South African subscriber figures.
Cell C also released its results for the first half of 2017 as it now forms part of the Blue Label Telecoms group.
Mobile subscribers in SA
MTN’s latest quarterly update shows it has 30.9 million subscribers in South Africa.
Vodacom’s trading update for the latest quarter showed it has 41.6 million subscribers.
Telkom’s interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2017 show it has 4.4 million mobile subscribers.
Cell C’s chief executive for its wholesale business, Björn Flormann, said that Cell C had over 16 million subscribers on its network as of October 2017.
These figures include postpaid and prepaid subscribers.
