Mcebisi Jonas appointed to MTN board

MTN has appointed former Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas to its board, effective from 1 June.

The company also appointed Barbican Advisory Group Executive Director Bajabulile Tshabalala. Both new board members will serve as independent non-executive directors.

Tshabalala holds an MBA from Babcock School of Management, Wake Forest University.

She has over 20 years of experience in finance, risk management, treasury and general management and is currently a non-executive director at South African Airways.

Jonas holds a BA in History and Sociology from Vista University, and a Higher Diploma in Education from Rhodes University.

He is currently one of four independent Presidential Investment Envoys, appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to attract investors to South Africa.

“I wish to extend a warm welcome to Swazi and Mcebisi. We are all excited to have them onboard,” said MTN chairman Phuthuma Nhleko.
