MTN announced that it has appointed a host of new top executives, including a new group chief technology and information officer.
Charles Molapisi will take on the position as MTN group CTO effective from 1 January 2019, following the recent resignation of Babak Fouladi.
Molapisi has over 16 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and has previously held various senior management positions in MTN Nigeria and MTN Zambia.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa, a post-graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
MTN has also appointed Nikos Anngelopoulos as group CIO, a role in which he will be responsible for managing and maintaining the standard IT architecture across the company.
Other executive appointments at MTN include David Gilarranz as MTN Digital CEO, Motselisi Molapo as internal audit and forensics executive, and Nompilo Morafo as group corporate services and sustainability executive.
“Charles, Nikos, David, Motselisi and Nompilo bring valuable skills and experience to their new roles, which will stand them in good stead to lead their respective business units and support the delivery of our BRIGHT strategy,” said MTN Group CEO Rob Shuter.
