Pick n Pay has launched Brand Match today (31 August 2014) – an application which compares prices of one thousand top-selling branded products with prices in other supermarkets.
When a Pick n Pay customer buys ten or more different products, and at least one is in the Brand Match thousand, it will trigger a price comparison at the till.
If the total of their Brand Match products would have cost less elsewhere, the customer will receive a cash-off coupon worth that amount for their next shop.
Pick n Pay CEO Richard Brasher said that the programme was in the best tradition of Pick n Pay – giving something back to customers without expecting anything back.
“Customers are shopping around for the best prices and deals. That takes time, and can be confusing,” he said.
“That’s where Brand Match comes in. Every time a customer shops at Pick n Pay, they can be assured that – across one thousand branded products – they will get the best price for their basket, or be rewarded with a voucher for their next shop.”
“We wanted Brand Match to be as simple and powerful as possible for customers. No empty promises, no misleading offers, no complex guarantees – all you have to do is check your till slip at the end of your shop.”
How Pick n Pay Brand Match works
If the basket of Brand Match goods is cheaper at Pick n Pay, the till slip will tell the customer how much they have saved with the current purchase.
If the basket of Brand Match goods turns out to be cheaper at any of the other supermarkets surveyed, the customer will receive a Brand Match cash-off coupon for the difference – up to a maximum of R50. The voucher will be generated instantly at the till and will be available to spend immediately.
To ensure full transparency, the voucher calculation will be available online at www.picknpay.co.za/brandmatch from 24 hours after the till slip was issued.
The calculation will show the price matches on all surveyed products and which products could not be compared. Calculations online will be available for 28 days from date of issue.
